Alice Powell is a British racing driver who has competed in the GP3 Series and the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. She is currently signed to the Williams Martini Racing development programme.

Alice Powell, who has raced in both the GP3 Series and the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, was put through her paces by Red Bull instructors, giving her a taste of what it’s like to be an F1 driver.

Alice said of the experience: “It was great to get an insight into what the Red Bull F1 drivers go through on a daily basis. The training programme was really intense and I learned a lot about how to improve my driving technique. I’m really looking forward to putting what I’ve learned into practice when I race in the GP3 Series this season.”

Red Bull has its own training programme for racing drivers, which is designed to help them improve their performance on the track. The programme includes simulator sessions, fitness training and mental preparation.

Powell enjoyed testing out the facilities in the Red Bull gym and powertrain area. Alice says that the F1 training was “definitely worth it” and she would recommend it to other racing drivers.

Powell, who raced in the W Series last year, is the development driver for the Haas F1 team. She joined Red Bull’s junior programme in 2010 and has previously tested an RB8 and a Toro Rosso STR13. Speaking to Channel 4, Powell said: “It’s always been a dream of mine to drive an F1 car and I’m so grateful to Red Bull for giving me this opportunity."

“The car is incredible to drive – it’s so fast and so different to anything I’ve driven before. I loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to do it again.”

Powell is the second woman to test an F1 car this year, after Williams development driver Jamie Chadwick drove the team’s FW42 at the post-season test in Abu Dhabi.
