Amanda Serrano speaks about her rematch with Katie Taylor.

In an interview with Fighthype, Amanda Serrano stated that she would like to face Katie Taylor again in the near future.
Serrano (36-1-1, 27 KOs) changed her mind after she saw an opportunity to unify all four major world titles in the lightweight division. “I wanted this rematch because I want to show the world that I am the best female fighter in the world,” Serrano told Sky Sports. “I want to unify all the titles and be able to say that I am the first woman in boxing history to do so.”
The 33-year-old wants to avenge her only professional loss, which came against Taylor (15-0, 6 KOs) last year. Serrano believes she was deprived of a victory due to the judges’ decision.
“I feel I won the first fight,” she said. “I definitely think I should have gotten my hand raised that night, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen. That just gives me more motivation to win this rematch and prove to everyone that I am the better fighter.”
“I think it would be a great fight for the fans,” Serrano said. “I think it would be a great rematch. I think people want to see it. I think it would be a great sell.”
Serrano said she was surprised by how much Taylor was able to move in their first fight, and that she plans on making some adjustments in the rematch. “I definitely think I need to change up my gameplan,” Serrano said. “I need to be smarter. I can’t just go in there and brawl with her. I need to use my brain a little bit more and fight my fight.”
As for when she would like the rematch to take place, Serrano said she is open to fighting Taylor at any time or place. “I’m definitely looking for a rematch with Katie. I think it’s a fight that the fans want to see and I want to prove that I’m the better fighter,” said Serrano.
The Puerto Rican fighter also spoke about how she believes she could have won their first encounter, which took place last November. “I definitely think I can beat her. I don’t think she’s the better fighter. I think I am,” said Serrano.
When asked if she would be willing to fight Taylor in Ireland, Serrano replied that she would have no problem doing so. “I don’t care where the fight is. I’ll go to her backyard, her country, and beat her in front of her people,” said Serrano. “I had some personal issues going into that fight and I still almost won. I definitely think a rematch would be different.”
It remains to be seen if a rematch between Serrano and Taylor will materialize in the near future, but it is certainly a fight that boxing fans would love to see. Serrano is looking to make history by becoming the first woman to unify all four major world titles in the lightweight division.
