The Arsenal and England striker said the FA will have to make sure girls’ football is not seen as a “niche” sport.

Speaking to the BBC, Mead said: “I think it’s going to be a tough job for the government to keep girls’ football in schools because obviously with the success of the England team, it’s sky-rocketed in popularity.

“So I think they’re going to have to put more funding into girls’ football and make sure that it’s not seen as a niche sport, because at the moment it is.”

Mead also spoke about the importance of having role models in the game, something she thinks is essential for the growth of the women’s game. “When I was younger, I didn’t have any role models in women’s football,” she said. “So I think it’s important that young girls have someone to look up to and aspire to be.”

Beth Mead is one of the England stars who wants girls’ football to be a part of that, and she’s determined to make it happen. “It’s so important that we keep girls’ football in schools,” Beth said in an interview with The Telegraph. “There are so many talented girls out there who just need the opportunity to play.

“I was one of those girls who loved playing football, but there wasn’t really anywhere for me to go and play when I was younger. It’s so important that we create those opportunities for girls, because otherwise they’ll just end up quitting the sport.”

Beth is now one of the most recognisable faces in women’s football, and she’s using her platform to fight for change. “I want girls to know that they can be whatever they want to be,” Beth said. “They can be the next Beth Mead, or the next England captain, or the next women’s football superstar.

“All they need is the opportunity to play, and I’m determined to make sure they get that opportunity.”
