Bev Priestman commented on the CanWNT preparation ahead of 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The CanWNT will be participating in four international matches this Spring, with two games against the United States Women’s National Team and two tune up matches against Europe-based opposition. Bev Priestman is using this opportunity to help narrow down her roster for the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Bev Priestman is confident that Canada Soccer and CanWNT have “the right plan” in place to give the team their best chance at success at the World Cup. She stated, “We are focused on helping our players reach their highest potential through a truly holistic approach. Our plan is rooted in the fundamental principles of high performance, which takes into consideration all aspects of development, including physical and mental wellbeing, nutrition, sport science, psychology and tactical development.”
“We had an extremely productive camp, with a number of players performing very well. We have a strong core who will form the heart of our group going forward and we have identified some exciting Canadian talent that is pushing for selection.”
The Canada Soccer Women’s National Team (CanWNT) recently completed a three-day camp in preparation for the upcoming She Believes Cup and to further develop Bev Priestman’s vision for the team.
The camp focused on individual technical and tactical development and small-sided games, while also providing Bev Priestman with the opportunity to assess the CanWNT’s form ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Priestman expressed her confidence in the team: “We have a good mix of experience and youth in our squad and I am optimistic a number of players will make a positive impact on our team in the coming months and years. I am looking forward to us continuing our development journey together towards the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.”
