Breanna Stewart is going further to get WNBA player of the year.

The honor comes as no surprise after Breanna Stewart led the Seattle Storm to their second WNBA championship in three years, averaging 19.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game during the regular season.
In the playoffs, Stewart upped her game even further, averaging 21.8 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game as the Storm went on to defeat the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA Finals. For her efforts, Stewart was named the WNBA Finals MVP for the second time in her career in 2018.
“It’s been an unbelievable year,” Stewart said after being named player of the year. “I just wanted to come out and be the best player I could be for my team. I think we have a great group of girls and we were able to accomplish something special.”
She also won the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-WNBA First Team for the second consecutive year. Stewart’s ascension to WNBA superstar status has been meteoric. She was drafted No. 1 overall in 2016 out of the University of Connecticut, where she helped lead the Huskies to four straight national championships.
As a rookie, Stewart averaged 18.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, earning WNBA Rookie of the Year honors. She followed that up with an even better sophomore campaign, averaging 19.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
This past season, Stewart took her game to another level, leading the WNBA in scoring while also averaging 8.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. She helped lead the Storm to a 26-8 record, the best in the WNBA, and was named MVP of the WNBA Finals after averaging 25.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game as Seattle won its second WNBA championship.
Now, Breanna is doing everything possible to become the WNBA player of 2022. With her combination of size, athleticism and skill, Stewart has the potential to be one of the best players in WNBA history. At just 27 years old, she is already one of the league’s most dominant players, and she shows no signs of slowing down.
With her second WNBA title and second player of the year award in as many years, Breanna Stewart is cementing her place as one of the greatest players in WNBA history.
