Canadian Women & Sport’s Spotlight Grant aim to open the funds community.
Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE), formerly known as Status of Women Canada, has developed The Spotlight Grant that will provide funding to projects promoting gender equity in sport and physical activity.
This grant is part of their Women’s Program, which supports activities that lead to greater inclusion and equality for women in Canadian society. WAGE believes that the best way to advance gender equity and empowerment is to invest in projects that are led or inspired by women and girls, as well as those that focus on their specific needs.
The Spotlight Grant provides funding for initiatives that build capacity for sport and physical activity organizations to increase access to sport for women and gender-diverse participants from the following communities: Indigenous Peoples, Women from Racialized Communities, Women from LGBTQ2+ communities, Women with Disabilities, Women in Northern and Rural Communities, Women Living in Official Language Minority Communities.
The funding will allow organizations to undertake activities such as developing or modifying policies and procedures that promote access to sport and physical activity for girls and women. It can also help them create awareness of the need for gender equity in sport and physical activity, and provide training for coaches, officials, administrators and other volunteers.
The goal of the Spotlight Grant is to open the funds community through empowering and creating awareness around Women & Gender Equality Canada’s Women’s Program. This goal will be achieved by providing grants that strengthen organizations’ capacity to provide more equitable access to sport and physical activity opportunities for girls, women, and gender-diverse participants.
By providing organizations with the resources they need to create more inclusive practices and increase access to sport, Women & Gender Equality Canada is helping to create a more equitable society that values the contribution of all Canadians.
With the Spotlight Grant, Women & Gender Equality Canada will continue to champion equitable access to sport and physical activity opportunities for all Canadians.
