Catarina Macario will now be playing in U.S. women’s national team against Germany.

Catarina Macario, 22, has been in Europe since she left Stanford in December to sign with Lyon of France’s Division 1 Féminine.
She made her debut for the club Jan. 7 against Paris Saint-Germain and scored a goal in Lyon’s 5-0 victory. Catarina Macario will now be playing in U.S. women’s national team against Germany. This will be her first time playing with the USWNT.
Catarina has dual citizenship with Brazil and the United States, but she has represented the U.S. at youth levels since 2013. She played for the U-14, U-15, U-17 and U-20 national teams. Catarina was a member of the U.S. that won the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan.
Catarina made her senior debut for the USWNT in January 2020 against Portugal. In March 2020, Catarina scored her first goal for the USWNT against England. Catarina has represented the United States at the 2020 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament and the 2020 SheBelieves Cup. Catarina will look to make an impact with the USWNT against Germany.
Catarina Macario, who has been recovering from an injury, will now be playing in the U.S. women’s national team against Germany. She started doing some running and jumping for the first time last week and is making good progress. It is hard to predict exactly when she will be back, but she is expected to make a full recovery soon.
Macario, who scored 26 goals and tallied 22 assists in 22 games for Stanford this season, is still recovering from a torn ACL she suffered last spring. She has made four appearances for the USWNT, all of them starts, and has scored one goal.
Catarina’s return will be a big boost to the US team as they prepare for the 2023 World Cup. Catarina is a world-class player and we’re looking forward to seeing her back in action.
