Coco Gauff speaks about her rivalry Naomi Osaka.

The rivalry of two tennis players Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka is one of the most talked about in tennis right now, with both players holding wins over the other.
The two players first met at the 2019 French Open, with Osaka winning in straight sets. Gauff then gained her revenge at Wimbledon, beating Osaka in three sets.
It all started at the 2019 French Open when Osaka was asked in her post-match press conference about her thoughts on Gauff. Osaka responded by saying she didn’t know who Gauff was, before adding that she hoped Gauff would “change the subject”.
Gauff then hit back at Osaka in her post-match press conference at Wimbledon, saying: “I don’t know why she said that. I think it was very disrespectful. I think there’s a lot of people that have heard of me.”
Coco spoke about their rivalry in a recent interview, saying: “I think it’s really cool. I think our games match up really well. “I think we both bring out the best in each other. I think it’s really cool that we can have this rivalry at such a young age.”
The two young stars have faced each other three times before, with Osaka winning on each occasion. However, their most recent meeting was at the 2020 Australian Open, where Gauff put up a much better fight than in their previous encounters, eventually losing 6-7 (8), 6-3, 6-4.
Gauff spoke about the rivalry after her first-round match, saying: “Of course, I want to win every match that I play. But playing her, it definitely adds a little bit extra because we are two of the youngest players on tour. We both have had success at a very young age. Naomi is a great champion. She’s won multiple Grand Slams. I think it’s definitely a rivalry. I think it will be a great match. I’m really looking forward to it. I know that she’s an amazing player, and I have to bring my best if I want to win.”
However, it is not just their on-court rivalry that has been making headlines, as the two have also been engaged in a war of words off the court.
The two players will face each other for the fourth time tomorrow, with Gauff looking to continue her winning streak against Osaka. However, regardless of the result, one thing is for sure – their rivalry is one of the most intriguing in tennis right now.
