Cris Cyborg is telling about her huge debut in MMA.
The MMA star will face off against former four-division boxing champion boxer, Simone Silva, in a 10-round bout. The fight will headline a card on pay-per-view (PPV).
Cyborg announced the news on Twitter, writing: “I’m very excited to announce my professional boxing debut! I will be fighting Simone Silva in a 10-round bout.”
This will be Cyborg’s first boxing match since she defeated MMA fighter, Tara LaRosa, in an exhibition bout back in 2006.
Cyborg is widely considered to be one of the best MMA fighters in the world. She is the current UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion and is the former Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight Champion.
Cyborg has a MMA record of 20-1-1, with her only loss coming to MMA legend, Ronda Rousey, back in 2016. She has since bounced back with three consecutive wins, including two title defenses of her UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship.
Simone Silva is a former four-division boxing champion who has a professional record of 49-7-3.
Cyborg has been on the MMA scene for years and is one of the most dominant forces in the sport. She is a former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion and is currently the Invicta FC World Featherweight Champion. She has an impressive record of 18-1-1, with her only loss coming to current UFC Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes.
Cris is a dangerous striker with a lot of power and has finished 14 of her 18 wins by KO/TKO. She also has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so she is very dangerous on the ground as well.
This will be an interesting matchup between two of the most accomplished female fighters in combat sports history. It will be interesting to see how Cyborg fares in the boxing ring against a seasoned veteran like Silva.
Either way, this is a historic moment for Cyborg, who has been campaigning for a boxing match for years. It will be interesting to see how she fares against Simone in the ring.
