Daria Kasatkina reveals she is a gay and Naomi Osaka has praised her for it.

“It takes a lot of courage to do something like that,” Osaka said of Kasatkina’s decision to come out. “I’m really happy for her.”
Daria Kasatkina, who is ranked No. 18 in the world, came out in an interview with Russian outlet Championat on Tuesday. In the interview, she said that she had been hesitant to come out publicly because of the fear of being judged.
“It’s not easy to live and keep everything inside,” Kasatkina said. “I’m still young, it’s difficult to talk about it.” “It’s not that I want to be an ‘open person,’ it just happens, because now there is no more need to hide anything,” she said.
Daria also said that she has received support from her family and friends since coming out. “The most important thing is that those close to you accept you the way you are,” she said.
Naomi Osaka, who is ranked No. 4 in the world, spoke about Kasatkina’s decision during a press conference at the Indian Wells tennis tournament on Wednesday. “I think it’s amazing,” Osaka said. “I think it shows a lot of courage.”
This is not the first time that Osaka has spoken out in support of the LGBT community. In January, she tweeted her support for Australian same-sex marriage legislation.
Osaka took to Twitter to praise Kasatkina for her courage. “No one should be discriminated against because of who they love,” she tweeted at the time.
“I am very happy that Naomi Osaka could be herself and speak about her origins, her family. It is very important for the new generation,” Kasatkina said. “It doesn’t matter what nationality, what skin colour, what sexuality you have - the main thing is to be yourself and then everything will be fine.”
Daria, who has won two WTA Tour singles titles, said she had been the victim of discrimination and abuse because of her sexuality. “When people know that you are different from them, the first reaction is to try to force you to be like everyone else,” she said. “But I realised that it was not my way. I understood that I could not live according to someone else’s ideas.”
“In Russia, the situation is such that it is better not to advertise your orientation,” she said.
