Emma Raducanu and her secret tactic that helped her to get US Open title.

Emma Raducanu had a secret tactic that helped her to get US Open title. The 19-year-old from Romania played a very aggressive game and took control of the rallies. She did not give Pegula any time to breathe and eventually won the match 6-4, 6-2.
This was a huge win for Raducanu and it will surely give her a lot of confidence going into the rest of the tournament. She will now face Anastasija Sevastova in the fourth round, who is also playing very well at the moment. Emma Raducanu has the potential to go far in this tournament and she will be one to watch out for in the coming days.
“It was a great experience,” the 19-year-old told WTA Insider. “I played three good matches. I’m really happy with that.” Raducanu also had kind words for her fourth-round opponent, Jelena Ostapenko.
“She’s a great player and she played really well,” Raducanu said of the 2017 French Open champion. “I’m just happy to have won.”
And what was the secret to her success in New York?
Emma Raducanu had to rely on a wildcard to even get into the qualifying event, where she won three matches to make the main draw. She took full advantage of her opportunities in New York, defeating some of the biggest names in the game en route to the trophy. She has showed incredible resilience throughout the tournament, saving match points in her second and fourth round matches.
In the final, Raducanu faced another American teenager, Cori Gauff. The unseeded Brit was the underdog against the 15-year-old, who had already made a name for herself with a run to the Wimbledon semifinals earlier in the year.
“I just tried to focus on every point and not think about the result,” Raducanu revealed. It’s a tactic that clearly worked, as she went on to lift the trophy without dropping a set. “I’m trying to be a little more aggressive, to take my chances when I have them,” Emma told reporters ahead of her first-round clash against American Varvara Lepchenko.
“I know that if I want to win a Grand Slam, I will have to play some really good tennis.”
The 19-year-old has certainly done that so far in 2020, winning her first WTA title in Nottingham before following it up with a run to the semifinals of the Bucharest Open. And she will need to be at her best if she is to make it deep into the draw at Flushing Meadows, where she has been drawn against Lepchenko in the first round.
Raducanu knows she will have to be on top of her game if she is to progress, but she is relishing the challenge. “I’m really looking forward to it,” she said. “It’s going to be a tough match, but I’m ready for it.”
And if she can get past Lepchenko, Raducanu could find herself playing some of the biggest names in the game. But that is something that she is not thinking about too much at the moment.
“I’m just focusing on my own game and taking it one match at a time,” she said. “If I can do that, I’m confident that I can have a good tournament.”
Raducanu will now turn her attention to the WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai, where she is seeded sixth. She opens her campaign against Alison Riske on Tuesday.
