Emma Raducanu can drop in the rating ahead of US Open.

The Romanian ace Emma Raducanu, who is currently ranked No. 68 in the world, has not played since her first-round loss at the US Open to Madison Keys in September.

During that time, she has been beset by injuries and illness, including a wrist injury that required surgery. As a result of her time away from the tour, Raducanu is in danger of falling out of the top 100 in the world rankings.

Raducanu, who is only 19 and still eligible to play in junior tournaments, had a fairytale run to the third round of the US Open last month. However, the teenager has not won a match since, losing in the first round of both qualifying tournaments she has contested.

Raducanu’s ranking has risen rapidly since she turned professional in February, but her recent form suggests she may need to take a step back and reassess her goals. The 20-year-old has not played a WTA event since February due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it showed as she made too many unforced errors.

Emma Raducanu will now turn her attention to the clay-court season and will compete in the ITF event in Charleston next month. With her ranking slipping outside the top 200, Emma Raducanu will need to rely on wildcards if she is to compete in the main draws of WTA tournaments.

Raducanu has had a tough draw at the Madrid Open, losing to world No.1 Simona Halep in the first round. Emma then went on to lose her second-round match against Anett Kontaveit. Emma will need to turn her form around if she wants to make an impact at the French Open.

Emma’s US Open title win has seen her become one of the most talked-about players on tour. However, her Grand Slam form has been a shadow of what she achieved in New York.

Raducanu will be hoping to get her career back on track as soon as possible and put her recent difficulties behind her.
