Raducanu had won the US Open junior title in 2018, but she was unable to replicate that success at the senior level, losing 6-4, 6-2 to Cornet.

Playing with Alizé Cornet, was tough for Emma, who struggled with her serve and made several unforced errors. Cornet, on the other hand, was in top form and made very few mistakes.

After the match, Raducanu spoke to reporters about her performance. “I’m disappointed with my performance today,” she said. “I didn’t serve well and made too many unforced errors. Cornet played a great match and deserved to win.”

“I’m very disappointed,” the 19-year-old said. “I didn’t play my best tennis today. I made too many mistakes and Cornet was just too good.”

When asked what she could have done better, Raducanu didn’t hold back. “Everything,” she said. “My serve, my forehand, my backhand. I was just terrible out there.”

Despite the loss, Raducanu said she enjoyed her US Open experience and is looking forward to getting back on the court soon. “It’s been a great week,” she said. “I’ve learned a lot and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have played here. I’m already looking forward to my next tournament.”

“I’m obviously disappointed to lose but I’m also relieved,” Raducanu said. “It’s been a tough few weeks leading up to this tournament and I’m just happy it’s over. I gave it my all out there today but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. Alize played really well and deserved the win.”

Despite the US Open being her first Slam, Raducanu had entered the tournament as one of the favourites after winning the French Open junior title in 2018. However, she insisted the pressure of expectation didn’t play a role in her defeat.

“I don’t think the pressure got to me,” she said. “I just didn’t play my best tennis today. It’s been a great experience overall and I’ve learned a lot. I’ll be back next year and hopefully I can go one step further.”
