Alessia Russo was one of the stars of the show for England, scoring two goals. Her second goal was an accurate back-heel that drew gasps from the crowd. The 23-year-old, who plays her club football for Manchester United, showed superb technique to direct Ellen White’s low cross into the back of the net with an audacious back-heel.

Russo’s first touch was exemplary, as was her composure to place it into the net with a Euro 2022 campaign on the line. While Euro 2022 will be Russo’s first major tournament, she will no doubt be one of the key players for England as they look to make an impact on the European stage.
And her goal against Sweden will certainly have sent a message to the rest of the continent that the Lionesses mean business. It was a stunning finish and it showed just how far England have come under head coach Phil Neville.
When you think of Euro 2022, Alessia Russo’s name might not be the first one that comes to mind. However, after her outstanding performance against Sweden in the quarter-finals, she is most certainly one of the players to watch out for in the upcoming tournament.
