After an incredible year of top-class football action, the UEFA European Football Championship trophy will be staying in England. This is thanks to a stunning victory by the England team against German in the final. It was a game that had everything, from big saves to last-minute goals, and it had the whole nation on the edge of their seats.

One of the stars of the show was Arsenal Ladies defender Leah Williamson, who put in a magnificent performance at the back to help keep Germany out.

After the game, we caught up with Leah for an amazing interview. Here’s what she had to say: “I feel absolutely incredible, it’s been an amazing journey and I’m so proud of everyone involved. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster but we’ve stuck together as a team and we’ve come out on top.

“I don’t think anyone can quite believe it yet, it hasn’t really sunk in. It’s an amazing feeling and I’m just so happy that we could do it for our country.

“The support from back home has been incredible, we could hear them cheering us on even when we were out on the pitch and it really spurred us on.

“I think the whole team deserves immense credit, we’ve worked so hard and we’ve believed in ourselves even when it looked like things weren’t going our way.

“It’s been an unbelievable experience and I’m just so proud to be a part of this team.”

Leah Williamson spoke to FATV about her excitement at the prospect of representing England at a major tournament on home soil. “It’s an amazing feeling to have won EURO 2022,” said Williamson. “I’m so proud of everyone in this squad, we’ve worked so hard to get to this point.”

Williamson’s interview was so powerful that it even brought tears to the eyes of host Gary Lineker. An absolutely incredible interview from an incredible player. Leah Williamson is a true role model for young girls everywhere, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

Thank you for everything, Leah! You’re a hero.
