The incident occurred in the second half when Eveliina went down inside United’s penalty area after a challenge from defender Axel Tuanzebe. The match official deemed Eveliina to have successfully deceived him and awarded Spurs with a penalty kick, which was converted by Lucas Moura to give them a 2-1 lead.

The Football Association’s independent Regulatory Commission subsequently issued Eveliina Summanen with a two match ban for the incident.

In their statement, they said: “Eveliina Summanen has been suspended for two matches following her successful deception of a Match Official during the EFL Cup quarter-final match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.”

The ban could be a major blow to Eveliina Summanen and her team, as they will now have to face Manchester City and Liverpool in their next two fixtures without her influence. Despite this setback, Eveliina and Spurs will be hoping to make a strong comeback and get the results they need to stay in the EFL Cup.

This is not the first time Eveliina Summanen has been banned for this kind of incident; earlier this season she received a three match ban for “successful deception” during her side’s match against Arsenal.

It remains to be seen whether Eveliina and Spurs can overcome their latest setback and continue their impressive EFL Cup campaign. They will certainly need Eveliina’s influence if they are to get results against Manchester City and Liverpool in the coming weeks. Only time will tell how this saga pans out.
