How close is Beth Bead to Ballon d'Or win?

The Ballon d’Or is an annual football award presented by France Football. It has been awarded since 1956, although between 2010 and 2015.
The agreement was made with FIFA and the award was temporarily merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year, and known as the FIFA Ballon d’Or. However, the partnership ended in 2016, and the award reverted to Ballon d’Or.
Beth Mead is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for FA WSL club Arsenal. She has also played for Sunderland, Leeds United, Millwall Lionesses, and England since making her senior debut in 2015.
Mead has represented England at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Arsenal star lost out to Lucy Bronze in the vote by just four points, with the Liverpool defender scooping 38% of the total. Ballon d’Or organisers France Football revealed that Mead received 34% of the vote.
This is an incredible achievement for the 27-year-old, who only made her senior England debut in 2016. Since then, she has gone on to score 23 goals in 44 appearances for her country.
Mead has also been in prolific form for Arsenal this season, scoring 13 goals in 15 games so far. She is currently the joint-top scorer in the Women’s Super League alongside Chelsea’s Fran Kirby.
With her Ballon d’Or close miss, it is clear that Beth Mead is one of the best players in the world right now. It is only a matter of time before she wins the coveted prize. Ballon d’Or.
