Iga Swiatek has reached the San Diego Open final.

Iga Swiatek, who is yet to drop a set this tournament, beat Jessica Pegula6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 21 minutes to reach her first Premier-level final.
Świątek will face former US Open champion Sam Stosur for the title after the Australian stunned top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the other semi-final. This will be the first meeting between Świątek and Stosur. The 20-year-old has won both of her previous finals, at Roland Garros last year and at the Adelaide International earlier this month.
Swiatek, who is currently ranked at a career-high No.9 in the world, has enjoyed a stellar season so far. In addition to her Roland Garros triumph, she also reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open and won her maiden WTA title in Charleston.
“I’m very happy to be in the final again,” Swiatek said. “I played a great match.” Swiatek’s victory sets up an all-Polish final against Magda Linette, who upset American qualifier Madison Brengle earlier in the day.
It will be the second WTA final for both players, and they have never met on the tour before. “I’m really happy for Polish tennis,” Swiatek said. “It’s going to be a great final.”
The San Diego Open is one of the WTA’s premier events, and it has been won by some of the biggest names in women’s tennis over the years. The fourth seed will face either second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka or unseeded Victoria Azarenka in Sunday’s final.
This will be Swiatek’s second appearance in a WTA final this year, having won the Adelaide International in January. If she wins Sunday’s final, Swiatek will move up to second in the world rankings, behind only Ash Barty.
