Katie Chomiak was named the best hockey player of the week for the period ending February 12, 2023.
Katie’s performance earned her Canada Women Hockey Player of the Week honors for the period ending February 12, 2023. Katie had a total of 25 shots and 11 points in two games this week, making her an undeniable force on both ends of the ice.
Chomiak had an incredible week, leading her team in points with three goals and four assists. Her first goal of the week came at 3:15 in the third period of the game against Waterloo, which ended with a 6-2 victory. The following day, Katie scored two goals and added three assists for her team, resulting in an 8-0 shutout win against Royal Military College.
The 2023 season is Katie Chomiak’s fourth year at Laurentian University and she is showing no signs of slowing down. Chomiak has been a leader on the team since her first year, and her performance this week was testament to that fact.
Katie’s passion for the game and dedication to her team are unbeatable. Her efforts were instrumental in Nipissing’s ability to upset Toronto in back-to-back games. Katie’s dominance was on full display and she was a major factor in the Lakers’ victories. Katie is an invaluable member of the Nipissing squad and her performance has proved that she is one of the best players in Canada Women Hockey this season.
Katie’s commitment to excellence, both on and off the ice, makes her a true leader and role model for her teammates. Katie’s impressive skill set and dedication to the game have earned her the Player of the Week award and she is sure to continue to be an impact player throughout the 2023 season.
