The U.S. national team and World Cup veteran agreed to terms with Gotham FC on Tuesday, the club announced.

Kelley O’Hara has spent the last eight seasons with Sky Blue FC, but will now head west to join the New Jersey-based Gotham. The 34-year-old is a natural fit for the expansion side, which will make its NWSL debut in 2021.

“I want to thank Kelley for her contributions to Sky Blue FC and the entire National Women’s Soccer League,” Gotham FC president Amanda Duffy said in a club release. “Her leadership and experience will be invaluable to our club as we enter our first season in the NWSL.”

Kelley O’Hara is a two-time NWSL champion, having lifted the Shield with Sky Blue in 2017 and 2018. She was also part of the U.S. team that won the 2015 World Cup and took home Olympic gold in 2012.

The Utah native has made 129 appearances for the USWNT, scoring 17 goals. She most recently represented her country at the 2019 World Cup, starting two of the team’s three group-stage games.

Kellley O’Hara will join a Gotham side that also features U.S. national team midfielder Carli Lloyd and Canadian goalkeeper Erin McLeod. The club is coached by former USWNT star Christy Holly.

“I am so excited to join Gotham FC and start this next chapter of my career,” O’Hara said in the release. “I have been really impressed with everything that the club has done to date and I can’t wait to get started with my new teammates.”

Gotham FC is set to open its inaugural season on April 10, 2021, against the Orlando Pride at Exploria Stadium. The club will play its home games at Montclair State University’s MSU Soccer Park.
