Mikaela Mayer has named the range of pound-for-pound female boxers.

Mikaela Mayer, who is the current WBO junior lightweight world champion, has had an outstanding 2020 so far.

The 32-year-old won the title in January with a dominant display against Jessie Magdaleno and followed that up with a points victory over Ewa Brodnicka in June to successfully defend her belt. Mayer has been on the rise in the boxing world, winning her last 12 fights and becoming a two-division champion. She is currently ranked as the No. 2 pound-for-pound female boxer by BoxRec.

In an interview with FightHype, Mayer was asked to name the top five pound-for-pound female boxers. Mayer is now ranked as the number one female junior lightweight in the world and is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound female boxers in the sport.

So, who does she believe are the top five female fighters in the world right now?

“I would say Claressa Shields, Amanda Serrano, Katie Taylor, Delfine Persoon and Cecilia Braekhus,” Mikaela told GiveMeSport. “I think those are the top five female pound-for-pound fighters in the world right now.”

Claressa Shields is the current WBC, WBO and IBF middleweight champion and is undefeated in 10 professional fights.

Amanda Serrano is the current WBO junior welterweight champion and has also held world titles at featherweight, lightweight, junior lightweight, welterweight and middleweight.

Katie Taylor is the current WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO lightweight champion and is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound female boxer in the world.

Delfine Persoon is the former WBC lightweight champion and gave Taylor one of the toughest fights of her career when they met in June 2019.

Cecilia Braekhus is the current WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and IBO welterweight champion and is widely regarded as the greatest female boxer of all time.
