After the fight, Molly McCann took to social media to express her gratitude towards her supporters.

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me,” she wrote. “It means the world to me.” Molly McCann also had kind words for her opponent, Blanchfield.

“Erin was a tough opponent and I have nothing but respect for her,” she said. Despite the loss, McCann remains positive and is already looking towards her next fight. “I’ll be back stronger than ever,” she promised. “Thank you again to everyone who has supported me.”

In the preliminary card of UFC 281, Blanchfield was put to sleep by Molly McCann in the first round. After the former Invicta FC fighter’s hand was raised, McCann called for a step up in competition.

Erin Blanchfield (6-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was submitted by rear-naked choke at the 3:16 mark of Round 1 after a back-and-forth start to the bout. McCann (9-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) took control on the ground after a failed attempt at a takedown from Blanchfield and quickly moved to the dominant position.

After the fight, Molly McCann called for a step up in competition and it seems she has got her wish as she is set to face former strawweight champion Carla Esparza in her next bout.
