The Japanese star, who is the world No 1, Naomi Osaka was shown in a fans’ video hiding from cameras in the crowd.

Naomi Osaka was sitting next to her sister Mari in the stands during a Rafael Nadal match at the Miami Open on Friday when they were both spotted by a group of fans.

In a video shared on Twitter, Naomi can be seen shielding her face with her hand and leaning away from the camera as the fans film her. She then appears to say ‘oh no’ in embarrassment.

But as they did, Osaka - who was sitting in her chair on the other side of the court - quickly turned her head away and buried it in her towel. The 24-year-old appeared to be trying to hide from the cameras, but she was unsuccessful as they managed to get a shot of her anyway.

This is not the first time that Osaka has been caught on camera trying to avoid the limelight.

At the 2018 French Open, she was seen covering her face with a towel while sitting in her chair during a break in play.

And at this year’s Australian Open, she was captured on camera hiding behind a water bottle as she sat in her chair.

While Osaka is often seen trying to avoid the cameras, she has also been very open about her battle with anxiety and depression.

In an interview with ESPN last year, she said: “I don’t want people to think that I’m ungrateful or anything. “I’m extremely grateful for where I am, but it doesn’t stop the fear.”

The US Open champion has been enjoying a break from tennis since her early exit from the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells last month. Naomi is set to return to the court later this month to defend her title at the Miami Open.

Osaka has been avoiding the media since her first-round US Open victory over Maria Sharapova last week. The 24-year-old tennis star has been fined $15,000 for not conducting any post-match press conferences at the tournament.

Osaka has said that she doesn’t want to do media appearances because of her mental health. “I’m not going to answer any questions,” Osaka said. “I know I have to do media, but I just can’t do it right now. I’m sorry.”
