Orlando Pride striker Ebony Salmon returned with a vengeance.

After a near miss at the NWSL Challenge Cup, Orlando Pride striker Ebony Salmon returned with a vengeance this week. The Jamaican international scored two goals and added an assist as the Pride routed Sky Blue FC, 4-1. Salmon now has four goals and two assists in three starts with the Dash, and her seven goals on the season are tied for the team lead with Rachel Daly. “I think I was at a point where I’d kind of given it long enough. I’m not going to play here,” Salmon told The Striker Texas on June 27. “I need to go somewhere where I am going to play and where I’m valued.” NWSL side the Orlando Pride selected Salmon with the 12th pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft. The move reunited Salmon with former Houston Dash coach Mark Sampson, who is now in charge of the Pride.“Ebony is a player that we’ve known about for a long time”. Salmon’s debut goal for the Dash came in the 11th minute. She then doubled Houston’s lead with her second finish of the night just before the half NWSL Challenge Cup. Orlando Pride striker Ebony Salmon returned to NWSL action with a vengeance, scoring two goals to lead the Houston Dash to a 2-0 victory over the Portland Thorns in the NWSL Challenge Cup. Salmon is not only lethal in the final third, but also an expert at pulling defenses apart and exploiting space while flawlessly timing her runs in behind the backline. “It was good to get back out there and put in a shift for the team", - says Ebony Salmon.
