Sabrina D'angelo joined Arsenal FC in England.
Prior to her move to Europe, Sabrina featured for the Canada Soccer Women’s National Team since 2013 and was a key figure in the team that won FIFA Bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games.
Sabrina is regarded as one of Canada’s top goaltenders and has won numerous awards over her career, including being named Canada Soccer Player of the Year in 2015. Sabrina has been a member of Canada’s senior team for over 70 matches and has represented her country at both the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the CONCACAF Women’s Championship. Sabrina arrives in
North London after an impressive four-year spell with Vittsjö GIK, where she was the team’s number one goalkeeper and played an integral role in their success both domestically and in European competition.
She also featured prominently for two of Canada’s top clubs, winning three consecutive Canadian Championships with Vancouver Whitecaps FC in 2014 and 2015 and was named the 2018 United Soccer League Goalkeeper of the Year with North Carolina Courage.
“Sabrina is an experienced goalkeeper who has achieved a great deal over recent years,” said Arsenal Head Coach, Joe Montemurro. “She is an excellent shot-stopper who is also very adept with the ball at her feet. Sabrina will be a great addition to our squad and I’m looking forward to working with her.”
Sabrina becomes Arsenal Women’s second-ever Canadian player, following in the footsteps of defender Kadeisha Buchanan who joined from West Virginia University earlier this year. Sabrina is set to make her debut for Arsenal in the upcoming Women’s Super League season, as the club looks to build on a successful 2023-24 campaign.
