Sofia Kenin- The latest news about the young prodigy and former Player of the Year.

Sofia Kenin’s game has been in a slump since she won the Australian Open in 2020.
Sofia hasn’t been able to find her groove on the court, and her ranking has suffered as a result. Sofia was ranked No. 4 in the world at the beginning of 2020, but she is currently ranked No. 14. Sofia’s recent slump is due in part to injuries, but she has also been struggling with her mental game.
She showed signs of life at the French Open, where she made it to the fourth round before losing to eventual champion Iga Swiatek. Sofia then lost in the first round of Wimbledon and the second round of the US Open. Sofia did not play any tournaments between the US Open and the start of the 2021 season.
Kenin started her 2021 season at the Yarra Valley Classic, where she lost in the first round. Sofia then played at the Australian Open, where she made it to the third round before losing to eventual champion Naomi Osaka. Then she played at the Qatar Open, where she lost in the first round. Sofia’s most recent tournament was the Dubai Tennis Championships, where she lost in the second round.
But the 23-year-old is nothing if not a fighter, and she has battled her way back to form, culminating in an incredible run to the WTA Cleveland final.
It has been a remarkable turnaround for Kenin, who was ranked as low as world No. 86 just two months ago. She has now reached three finals in her last four tournaments and is back up to world No. 30.
Kenin’s success is all the more impressive given that she has had to deal with some tough opponents in Cleveland. In the quarter-finals, she came from a set down to beat top seed and world No. 9 Aryna Sabalenka, before beating Madison Keys in the semi-finals.
In the final, she will face another in-form player, Petra Martic. The Croatian has also been on a roll lately, winning the title in Istanbul last week and reaching the final of the WTA Charleston event earlier this month.
It promises to be a fascinating match-up between two players who are enjoying the best tennis of their lives. Kenin will be looking to continue her stunning run and claim her first title of the year, while Martic will be hoping to add another trophy to her collection.
Whichever player comes out on top, it is clear that Sofia Kenin is back to her best and looks poised for a big year ahead.
