Taylor Townsend was accused for being 'too fat'.

The US Open was her last chance to win a Grand Slam title in doubles this year, but she and her partner, Asia Muhammad, were beaten in the final by the unseeded pairing of Krejčíková and Siniaková.
Taylor Townsend has had a successful year in doubles, winning the Australian Open mixed doubles title with Jack Sock and reaching the final of the US Open mixed doubles tournament with Mike Bryan.
However, she was unable to add a US Open doubles title to her collection, as she and Muhammad were beaten 6-4, 6-3 by Krejčíková and Siniaková in the final. It was a disappointing end to the US Open for Townsend, who had also lost in the first round of the singles tournament.
The US Open was the last chance for Townsend to win a Grand Slam title in doubles this year, as she will not be competing in the mixed doubles event at the French Open.
Townsend has been accused of being “too fat” in the past, but she has proved her doubters wrong with her success on the court. “They told me that I needed to get a grip on my weight, and they said it in a way that made it clear they didn’t think I was capable of doing it on my own. They put me on a restricted diet and told me I couldn’t play in USTA (United States Tennis Association) events until I ‘got serious about my fitness’.”
USTA responded to Townsend’s essay, writing that their “primary concern has always been Taylor’s long-term health and well-being.”
However, Townsend is not the only player to have been accused of being “too fat”. In 2015, French player Marion Bartoli retired from the sport, citing her battle with weight as one of the reasons.
“It is definitely a problem in women’s tennis,” Bartoli said in an interview with The Telegraph. “I have seen players who are overweight and they get criticised for that. I have also seen players who are incredibly skinny and they get criticised for that as well. It is a lose-lose situation.”
Bartoli added that she was “constantly criticised” for her weight during her career, and that it took a toll on her mental health.
