The British golf star Meghan MacLaren speaks about LIV Golf Tour and gender equality.

LIV Golf Tour is a new professional golf tour for women, and Meghan MacLaren is one of its founding members.
After a promising start to her professional career on the LPGA of Japan Tour, winning the 2017 Tsuruya Open, MacLaren has since gone on to compete on the LPGA Tour in America and Europe. In 2018 she claimed her first LPGA title at the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer.
The LIV Golf Tour was created to provide more opportunities for female golfers to compete and earn a living from the sport. The tour will have events in the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australasia, with prize money totaling $1 million.
The golfer spoke about the LIV Golf Tour and her goals for the tour on The Game Changers podcast. “Our main aim is to create more opportunities for female golfers around the world,” she said. “We want to create a sustainable tour where players can make a good living.”
She is also a LIV Golf Tour ambassador, and in this role she is committed to promoting gender equality in golf. In an interview with LIV Golf Tour, Meghan spoke about the importance of the tour and its role in promoting gender equality.
“The LIV Golf Tour is so important because it’s one of the only tours in the world that is truly equal. It offers equal prize money, equal media coverage and an equal platform for both men and women,” said MacLaren.
“It’s so important to have a platform like this because it helps to level the playing field. It gives women golfers the chance to compete against the best in the world, on a level playing field. And that’s so important for the growth of the game.”
Meghan also spoke about her own experiences as a female golfer and the challenges she has faced in her career. “As a woman golfer, I’ve definitely experienced my fair share of sexism,” said MacLaren. “There have been times when I’ve been told that I need to ‘dress sexier’ on the course, or that I need to be more ‘girly’ in order to sell myself and my brand.
“It’s frustrating because it’s not just about looks, it’s about ability. Women should be judged on their skills and their achievements, not on their looks.”
Meghan MacLaren is a strong advocate for gender equality in golf and its role in promoting gender equality. She hopes that the LIV Golf Tour can help to create a more level playing field for female golfers around the world.
“It’s not just about the prize money, it’s about the opportunities that we get as female golfers,” MacLaren told The Telegraph. “The LIV Golf Tour is a great example of a tour that is doing things right when it comes to gender equality. It’s important that we keep pushing for more opportunities and prize money in the women’s game.”
She believes that more needs to be done to grow the game of golf globally and to attract new players, both male and female. “Golf is a sport for everyone, regardless of gender, age or ability,” she said.
“It’s important that we continue to grow the game and make it more accessible for everyone. I’d encourage anyone thinking about taking up golf to give it a go – you never know, you might just fall in love with it like I did.”
