The 20-year-old sportwoman Adrianna Sulek, who is competing in her first World Championships, was filmed running up to the javelin throw with her right leg crossed over her left.Then she launched the javelin with her right hand before quickly adopting a more traditional run-up for her second and third throws. Sulek’s run-up looked odd because she started her approach from well behind the throw line.
While her placing will no doubt be a disappointment, the 21-year-old’s performance in Doha was enough to capture the hearts and minds of athletics fans across the world. In the footage, Ms Sulek can be seen running up to the javelin throw line before suddenly veering off to the side and throwing the spear.
