This will be England’s first game against the USA since their World Cup semi-final victory in Lyon three years ago, and the first time the two nations have met on English soil since 2014.

The match will take place on Thursday 9th November at Wembley Stadium, with kickoff at 7:45pm GMT. Tickets will go on sale in the autumn.

England and USA have a long-standing rivalry in women’s football, with the two teams meeting each other 31 times since 1987. England have won 15 of those games, while the USA have won 14. The most recent encounter was at the World Cup in 2015, when England won 2-1 thanks to goals from

Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd.

England will be looking to continue their good form against the USA, as they prepare for next year’s World Cup in Qatar. Phil Neville’s side are currently ranked third in the world, while the USA are top of the rankings. England qualified for the World Cup with ease, winning all 10 of their qualifying games.

The USA are one of the favourites to win the World Cup next year, and England will be looking to use this friendly as a chance to prove they can compete with the best in the world. England manager Phil Neville said: “This is a hugely important game for us as we continue our preparation for the World Cup.

“To be playing the current world champions and number one ranked team less than a year before the tournament is a fantastic opportunity for us. We want to test ourselves against the best and there is no better way to do that than by playing USA at Wembley.”

England captain Steph Houghton added: “It’s always special to play at Wembley and to do so against the USA will be a great occasion. “We’re really looking forward to it as we continue our preparations for the World Cup.”

The match will be England’s last game before they head to Qatar for the World Cup, which starts on November 21st. England are in Group D at the tournament, and will face Argentina, Japan and Scotland.
