Chelsea Gray and her brother, CJ, were playing a game of H-O-R-S-E. Chelsea was shooting from the driveway when she decided to go behind her back to avoid CJ’s outstretched hand. The shot went in, and Chelsea ran around the house celebrating.

But Chelsea’s parents weren’t so thrilled. They had just bought the house, and Chelsea had put a dent in the brand new garage door.

Fortunately, Chelsea’s parents saw the potential in their daughter’s basketball talents and they allowed her to keep shooting hoops in the driveway. And the rest is history.

Chelsea Gray is now considered one of the best point guards in the world. She’s a two-time WNBA All-Star and was named the league’s Most Improved Player in 2015.

But Chelsea’s journey to the top hasn’t been easy. She’s had to overcome injuries, including a devastating knee injury that forced her to miss the entire 2014 season.

Gray began playing organized basketball in the fifth grade. She quickly developed a passion for the game and became one of the top players in her age group. “I was like, ‘Wow, there’s a professional basketball league for women.’ I didn’t even know that existed. So that definitely sparked my interest", - she says.

In high school, Gray was a McDonald’s All-American and a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year. She led her team to four straight state championships and was named the national player of the year by USA Today as a senior.

Gray then went on to have a successful college career at Duke University. After college, Gray was drafted by the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock in the first round of the 2011 draft. She spent two seasons with the Shock before being traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in 2013.

But Chelsea never gave up on her dream of being a professional basketball player. And she continues to work hard to be the best point guard in the world. Chelsea is a true inspiration, and her story is proof that anything is possible if you never give up on your dreams.
