The US pushed for an equalizer and had several chances, but could not find a way past a resolute Spanish defense. The hosts then added a second goal in the dying moments through Mariona Caldentey to seal the victory.

Spain dominated the early stages of the game and took the lead in the 13th minute. The US goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher was caught in possession by Jenni Hermoso, who then ran through on goal and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net.

The US responded well to going behind and had several chances to equalize, but they were unable to find a way past the Spanish defense. The game became more open in the second half and Spain added a second goal in the dying moments through Mariona Caldentey to seal the victory.

The USWNT were second best for much of the game and were unable to take their chances when they fell behind. The Spaniards took a deserved lead in the 26th minute when Jennifer Hermoso was played through on goal and calmly slotted past Alyssa Naeher.

The USWNT had a few half-chances before the break but were unable to convert. The second half was more of the same and Spain doubled their lead in the 61st minute when Naeher could only parry a shot into the path of Lucia Garcia who slotted home.

The USWNT pushed for a goal but were unable to find one and ended up losing 2-0. The US will now turn their attention to the SheBelieves Cup which starts next week.
