Vanessa Gilles - the Canadian hero who helped winning Brazil.
Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team posted a 2:0 victory over Brazil in their second game at the 2023 SheBelieves Cup. The team was led by Vanessa Gilles, who scored the first goal of the match and provided an assist for the second goal.
This marked a huge success for Canada as they had not won a game in the tournament since 2017. The victory was also a testament to Canada’s commitment to developing women’s soccer, as this was their first win against Brazil since 2006. With this win, Canada is now in contention to win the SheBelieves Cup for the first time ever.
Vanessa Gilles and Evelyne Viens were the heroes of the Sunday victory over Brazil, as their goals propelled Canada to a 2-0 win in the SheBelieves Cup. The victory was made possible by goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan and her backline, who posted a clean sheet against a formidable Brazilian side. The win ensured that Canada would remain undefeated in the tournament, having taken four points from two matches.
This was also an important milestone for Canadian forward Janine Beckie as she made her 100th international “A” appearance in the match. The win was a great accomplishment for Canada’s women’s soccer team and these two players were recognized for their outstanding individual performances.
