Vogue- The tennis star Serena Williams reveales impending retirement.

“My time is coming to an end,” the 40-year-old tennis star Serena Williams told Vogue. “I’ve been working, playing tennis since I was 3 years old. I don’t know how long I can keep going.”

Williams has won 73 singles titles, including 23 Grand Slams, and four Olympic gold medals. She has been ranked No. 1 in the world eight times, most recently in 2017.

Serena has dealt with a series of injuries in recent years, including a ruptured tendon in her right foot and two surgeries for blood clots. She gave birth to her daughter, Olympia, in September 2017. “Having a baby, it’s been the best thing I’ve ever done, but not the easiest,” she told Vogue.

“If I have another great year, I don’t think I’ll play,” she said. “I just want to wait and see what happens. If I have to leave it at that, I will be okay with that, because I love tennis, and I feel like I have nothing else to prove,” Williams said in the Vogue cover story.

The tennis star has been dealing with a series of injuries over the past few years. She withdrew from the French Open last month because of a pectoral muscle injury.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion said she will “focus on initiatives that inspire women, empower women, and help families.” “I want to be able to speak out and talk about the things that are going on in society,” she told Vogue.

Williams has been outspoken on a number of social issues, including police brutality and equal pay for women.

She is married to Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit. The couple have a 4-year-old daughter, Olympia. Serena gave birth to her daughter in September and returned to the tour in early 2018, but has not won a Grand Slam since. In an interview with Vogue, Williams said she wants to spend more time with Olympia as she gets older.

“I don’t know if I want to play tennis professionally or not,” she said. “I don’t know what the future holds. Olympia is still so young, and I want to be there for her as much as I can. But also, I want to do other things. I want to have a life, too.”
