Many would say Britain’s greatest female footballer of all time is Kelly Smith. The English forward has enjoyed a glittering career with Arsenal and England, becoming Britain’s first world-class female player in the process.

Smith made her debut for the national team in 1995, aged just 16. Her goal scoring prowess was immediately clear; she scored 45 goals in 117 appearances for Britain. Smith has also enjoyed a successful club career, winning six FA Women’s Cups with Arsenal and being named England’s Player of the Year four times.

Her individual accolades include being inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and receiving an MBE from Queen Elizabeth II in 2009. Smith started her career in 1994 at the tender age of 15 and went on to become one of the most successful players in the history of women’s football.
