This is a bit different than our WNBA Player of the Month selections because those are based on the entire month, not just the playoffs.

The WNBA playoffs started August 21 and will conclude September 16 with the WNBA Finals. So far, there have been some great performances, but only a few teams are still in contention for a championship.

The best WNBA team in August, in our opinion, is the Connecticut Sun. They have been led by MVP candidate Jonquel Jones, who averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds in the month. The Sun also have experienced players like Courtney Williams and Alyssa Thomas, who are playing well in the playoffs.

The 10-year WNBA veteran Dewanna Bonner is averaging 17.8 points, good for second on the team, and has been a steadying force for Connecticut. But against New York, Bonner struggled mightily, going 1-for-9 from the field.

The Sun will need Bonner to be at her best if they want to make a deep playoff run. The WNBA playoffs are just around the corner, and the race for the august team is heating up. There are a few teams that have separated themselves from the pack, but the Sun are definitely one of the frontrunners.

Connecticut has been led by All-Star guard Jasmine Thomas, who is having a career year. Thomas is averaging 19.1 points and 5.8 assists per game, and she’s been the engine that has made the Sun go all season long.

Other teams that have been playing well in August are the Los Angeles Sparks and the Washington Mystics. The Sparks are led by Candace Parker, who is averaging a double-double in the playoffs. The Mystics have been led by Elena Delle Donne, who is also averaging a double-double in the playoffs.

So, our top three teams in August are the Connecticut Sun, Los Angeles Sparks, and Washington Mystics. These are the teams that we think have the best chance to win the WNBA championship.
